U.S. Representative Elise Stefanik, who has represented New York’s 21st District in Congress since 2015, made several statements on social media between July 22 and July 23, 2025, addressing issues ranging from immigration and state policy to veterans’ benefits and national political controversies.
On July 22, Stefanik criticized New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s approach to immigration policy after an incident involving a Customs and Border Protection agent. She wrote, “A brave @CBP agent was shot in the face by an illegal immigrant that @KathyHochul welcomed with open arms. @TriciaOhio is spot on. The Worst Governor in America is to blame: This is the direct result of Hochul’s dangerous sanctuary state policies. It has to stop now.”
Later that day, Stefanik announced her legislative efforts for veterans’ education benefits. She stated, “Today, I proudly co-led the Military Learning for Credit Act. This bill unlocks the ability of veterans to use existing benefits to afford the costs of educational exams. It is critical we enable veterans to convert military skills into college credits and career opportunities.”
On July 23, she commented on her role during former President Donald Trump’s impeachment proceedings and reiterated claims regarding Russian interference investigations. Stefanik posted, “As one of the Congressional leaders on @POTUS @realDonaldTrump’s Impeachment Defense Team, I have said for years that the Russian collusion hoax went all the way to the top straight into Obama’s Oval Office.”
Elise Stefanik began serving in Congress after replacing Bill Owens in 2015 and currently resides in Schuylerville. Born in Albany in 1984, she graduated from Harvard University with an AB degree.
