Rep. Elise Stefanik, who has represented New York’s 21st district in the U.S. Congress since 2015, addressed a range of topics in a series of posts on August 5, 2025. Her statements covered legislative efforts to honor WWII nurses, condemnation of violence in Midtown Manhattan, and criticism of state fiscal policy.
In her first post at 14:17 UTC, Stefanik advocated for recognition of World War II nurses by stating, “America must recognize our incredible WWII nurses for their courage, bravery, and sacrifice. These nurses saved numerous lives under extreme conditions and they are truly heroes. Today, I reintroduced the WWII Nurses Congressional Gold Medal Act to recognize their incredible”.
Later that day at 14:50 UTC, she responded to an incident in New York City: “I am honored to lead a Resolution condemning the heinous attack on innocent victims on July 28, 2025 in Midtown Manhattan where a madman killed innocent victims in cold blood and would have taken more lives if it were not for the heroism of the #NYPD. At 18:19 UTC on the same day, Stefanik criticized Governor Kathy Hochul’s fiscal policies: “The affordability crisis across New York is the result of the failed tax and spend fiscal policies of @KathyHochul the Worst Governor in America. Families cannot afford homes because of @KathyHochul’s high taxes and reckless spending. We will unify New Yorkers to fix this and”.
Stefanik’s public service began after replacing Bill Owens as representative for New York’s 21st district in 2015. She was born in Albany in 1984 and currently resides in Schuylerville. A Harvard University graduate with an AB degree, Stefanik is one of Congress’s youngest members from New York.
