Rep. Elise Stefanik, who represents New York’s 21st district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to honor Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day and announce legislative action regarding the Akwesasne Mohawk Land Claim Settlement Agreement.

On December 7, 2025, Stefanik posted: “We honor and commemorate the heroes lost in the attack on Pearl Harbor, a day that still lives in infamy 84 years later.

Americans will never forget the bravery and sacrifice of our Greatest Generation.”

Two days later, on December 9, she highlighted her involvement in advancing legislation related to Native American land claims. She wrote: “I am deeply honored to lead the passage of landmark legislation in Congress to ratify the Akwesasne Mohawk Land Claim Settlement Agreement. This is a historic agreement between the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, New York State, Franklin and St.”

In a subsequent post on December 9, Stefanik announced congressional progress on this issue: “Stefanik Passes Legislation to Ratify the Akwesasne Mohawk Land Claim Settlement Agreement

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s (R-NY) legislation to ratify the land claim settlement agreement between the Saint Regis Mohawk”.
