Rep. Elise Stefanik, who represents New York’s 21st district in the U.S. Congress, used her social media account on July 16, 2025, to criticize Governor Kathy Hochul and promote a defense bill she supports.
In a post from the morning of July 16, Stefanik commented on remarks made by Governor Hochul: “This morning, the Worst Governor in America @KathyHochul proudly said her role is ‘Therapist-in-Chief’ for New York. Yes, you read that correctly. She is hemorrhaging support for a reason. New Yorkers need a competent, strong, commonsense Governor, not a self-described” (posted July 16, 2025).
Later that day, Stefanik addressed national security concerns and expressed support for new legislation: “Today, I am proud to advance this year’s America First defense bill that responsibly and rightfully strengthens our military in the face of the rapidly evolving threats posed by our adversaries such as China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. This bill will lead the charge in” (posted July 16, 2025).
In another post from the evening of July 16, Stefanik again criticized Governor Hochul’s policies: “From the highest taxes in the nation, to the sanctuary state policies literally killing NYers, to the billions of dollars for illegals, to dangerous defund the police policies, to bending the knee to the Communist, Antisemite that happened on your watch, @KathyHochul is the Worst” (posted July 16, 2025).
Elise Stefanik has served as a member of Congress since replacing Bill Owens in 2015 and currently represents New York’s 21st District. Born in Albany in 1984 and residing in Schuylerville at age 38 as of this writing, Stefanik holds an AB degree from Harvard University.
