Rep. Elise Stefanik, U.S. Congresswoman representing New York’s 21st district since 2015, posted a series of tweets on July 17, 2025, criticizing New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the state’s leadership.

In her first tweet at 12:05 p.m., Stefanik wrote, “New Yorkers deserve a vision and a leader, not an inept, weak, accidental Governor who runs our state into the ground with families and businesses fleeing. Great news for PA, BAD NEWS for NY.”

Three minutes later, she shared another post that included only an emergency emoji and a link: ” https://t.co/ae4OA8q7vn”.

Later that evening at 9:24 p.m., Stefanik continued her criticism of Governor Hochul and the Democratic leadership in New York. She tweeted, “The Worst Governor in America Kathy Hochul and NY Democrats have done everything in their power to block and stop energy production in New York! And hardworking families are footing the bill with sky high energy prices and utility bills, and significant job losses. It is just one”.

Elise Stefanik has represented New York’s 21st Congressional District since 2015 after succeeding Bill Owens. She was born in Albany in 1984 and resides in Schuylerville. Stefanik graduated from Harvard University with an AB degree.

Kathy Hochul has served as governor of New York since August 2021 following the resignation of Andrew Cuomo. Energy policy remains a contentious issue in New York State politics, particularly regarding restrictions on certain forms of energy production.
