New York, N.Y. – House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik recently appeared on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program to discuss New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s sanctuary state policies. Stefanik criticized Hochul for prioritizing illegal aliens over New Yorkers and linked these policies to violent crimes committed in the state.
Stefanik stated, “She signed it three times, Sean, and this is a continuation of the previous governor’s executive order designating New York State as a sanctuary state.” She emphasized that Hochul had reaffirmed these policies multiple times since taking office.
The conversation touched upon recent incidents involving illegal immigrants and violent crimes in New York. Stefanik mentioned specific cases including assaults on NYPD officers and a recent incident involving an illegal migrant chasing President Trump’s U.S. Attorney for the Northern District in Albany.
Hannity raised the topic of polling in New York, noting Stefanik’s close competition with Hochul. He expressed surprise at her competitive standing given his perception of widespread dissatisfaction with high taxes and crime rates under current leadership.
Stefanik acknowledged the support she is receiving across the state, saying, “Nearly 60 percent of New Yorkers want to elect someone new.” She highlighted issues such as safety, affordability, and economic growth as priorities for her potential gubernatorial campaign.
In closing remarks about future elections, Stefanik remarked on past political successes: “We saved America by electing President Trump. We need to save New York by firing Kathy Hochul in 2026.”
