Elise Stefanik, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 21st district since 2015, recently shared her perspectives on the legislative session in New York State and other political matters through a series of tweets. Stefanik, who was born in Albany and currently resides in Schuylerville, has been vocal about her views on state governance and leadership.
On June 9, 2025, Stefanik expressed her sentiments regarding the recent legislative session in New York. She stated she was “Honored to join Leader @OrttforSenate and Leader @WillABarclay to meet with the Republican @nysenategop and @NYS_AM for the last week of the legislative session.” She criticized what she described as another year of a “failed, radical, reckless agenda” passed by the state’s legislature.
In another tweet from the same day, Stefanik reiterated her participation in meetings with key Republican leaders. She noted being “Honored to join NY Republican Leader @SenatorOrtt and Leader @WillABarclay in Albany to meet with the Republican @NYSenate and @nysenategop for the last week of the legislative session.” Again, she critiqued what she saw as a continuation of ineffective policies.
Additionally, Stefanik addressed actions by Governor Kathy Hochul. On June 9th, she commented that it was “Shameful—but not surprising—from @KathyHochul,” accusing Hochul of hypocrisy for deploying the National Guard to prisons due to a crisis Stefanik attributes to Hochul’s policies. Furthermore, she accused Hochul of siding with “violent rioters and anti-ICE criminals.”
Elise Stefanik graduated from Harvard University with an AB degree and has served as a prominent voice for her district since succeeding Bill Owens in Congress.
