Today, House Republican Chairwoman Elise Stefanik issued a statement criticizing New York Attorney General Letitia James and Governor Kathy Hochul. Stefanik accused them of prioritizing undocumented immigrants over New Yorkers and criticized their stance on law enforcement.
“Kathy Hochul and Tish James’ New York is illegals first, New Yorkers last,” Stefanik stated. She expressed her support for President Trump, federal law enforcement, and County Sheriffs who she says are working to maintain law and order. “This is a continuation of Kathy Hochul and NY Democrats war against law enforcement,” she added.
Stefanik’s comments come in response to what she describes as the state’s failure to address crimes committed by undocumented immigrants against residents. “Just last week, Kathy Hochul embarrassed all New Yorkers when she was unaware of the violent crimes committed by illegals against New Yorkers including being burned alive, raped, and molested,” Stefanik claimed.
The statement reflects ongoing tensions between state policies in New York regarding immigration enforcement and federal priorities.
