Rep. Elise Stefanik, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 21st district, has taken to social media to express her concerns and political stance on recent events and leadership in New York. Born in Albany, New York, Stefanik has been a member of Congress since 2015 after replacing Bill Owens.
On June 9, 2025, Stefanik addressed the public via Twitter regarding a series of antisemitic attacks that occurred on Long Island. She stated, “New Yorkers are horrified by the string of antisemitic attacks on Long Island last night.” She criticized Governor Kathy Hochul for allegedly prioritizing appeasement over protection, saying, “New York is under siege and Kathy Hochul is too busy appeasing radical antisemitic activists rather than standing up for Jewish New Yorkers.”
Later that day, Stefanik held a press conference with fellow New York Republicans in Albany. In her address shared on Twitter at 20:35 UTC, she emphasized the need for change in state leadership. “We hear you, the people of New York,” she declared. “We hear you loudly and clearly: it is time for new leadership to save our state.”
Continuing her engagement with constituents through social media into the early hours of June 10th, Stefanik reiterated her commitment to both state and national interests. At 02:16 UTC she tweeted, “I will always put NEW YORK & AMERICA FIRST!” She affirmed this dedication as part of fulfilling what she describes as a historic mandate given by voters.
Elise Stefanik was born in Albany in 1984 and resides in Schuylerville. She holds an AB from Harvard University.
