U.S. Representative Elise Stefanik, who has represented New York’s 21st district in Congress since 2015, recently shared several updates on social media addressing education policy and border security.

On September 3, 2025, Stefanik announced new legislation aimed at college accreditation standards. In her post she stated, “Today, I introduced legislation with @RepMcDowell and @RepRalphNorman to prevent accreditors from coercing colleges into using racial or sex-based quotas as a condition of accreditation. Academic quality should be based on merit and not woke accreditation elites who have a Far”.

The following day, marking the start of the academic year for many in her district, Stefanik wrote on September 4, 2025: “Today marks the first day of school for many students across #NY21! Wishing all students, teachers, and families a safe, successful, and exciting school year ahead. Parents remain the primary decision makers in their child’s education, and expanding school choice and opportunity”.

Later that same day, she addressed border security measures in another post: “Thanks to the strong border policies of @POTUS @realDonaldTrump, we now have improved border security, more law enforcement, and higher quality infrastructure technology to stop illegal crossings. Republicans in Congress are committed to working with the President to secure our”.

Stefanik was born in Albany in 1984 and resides in Schuylerville. She is an alumna of Harvard University. Before her tenure began in Congress after replacing Bill Owens in 2015, Stefanik had built a background rooted both locally and academically.
