Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has announced a $150 million Letter of Intent between the U.S. Department of Commerce and xLight, an American technology company focused on semiconductor manufacturing. The agreement aims to bring xLight’s next generation semiconductor technology to New York.
“Today, I am proud to announce this historic deal between the Department of Commerce and xLight to build the next generation of semiconductor manufacturing technology in New York State. As Kathy Hochul continues to annihilate innovation and manufacturing across our great state with her Green New Scam policies, today’s announcement by Republican leaders in Washington is a beacon of hope for future generations of New Yorkers and for innovation, technology, and manufacturing in our great state,” said Stefanik.
The investment will support development at the Albany Nanotech Complex, positioning New York as a center for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography capability. If commercialized further, this technology could improve semiconductor production efficiency and reduce costs at facilities throughout New York and across the United States.
Stefanik has previously worked to secure funding for technological advancements in New York that contribute to national security and economic growth. She has represented New York’s 21st District in Congress since 2015 after succeeding Bill Owens. Born in Albany in 1984, Stefanik currently resides in Schuylerville and holds a degree from Harvard University.
