Cost of college went up for all students at North Country Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 7 percent for 2018-19 at North Country Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $6,008 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $394 more than the $5,614 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 110.4 percent more than residents this year, or $12,638. Their price tag grew 5.4 percent from $11,990 in 2017-18.

About 90 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New York residents. About 8 percent are residents of other states and 2 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 81 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 186 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.2 million and 140 students took out student loans totaling more than $727,544.

Including all undergraduates (1,978), 699 students used grants or scholarships totaling $4.1 million, and 530 students took out $3.3 million in federal student loans.
