Essex County WIC does not condone anyone to make homemade formula, please call us or your doctors office before resorting to making your own.
Formula inquiries have increased with the pandemic supply chain issues and recent recalls. Here are some tips to locate formula:
· If you don’t see it on the shelf, ask store staff if the formula is kept anywhere else in the store - up front, customer service desk, pharmacy, etc…
· Look for the UPC tag on the shelf to see if it’s a formula the store carries regularly.
· Follow up with stores after a day or two to see if a shipment has come in.
· Speak with a Front-End Manager, or Grocery Manager to see if it is on order, or can be ordered.
· If the store doesn’t carry it and can’t order it, sometimes the pharmacy can. Ask a store employee if the pharmacy can.
· You are always encouraged to use your WIC benefits well before the benefit end date.
· Utilize the “Find a WIC Store” feature within the WIC2Go app.
