Of the 37,501 citizens living in Essex County in 2021, 83.9% were old enough to vote, equating to 31,459 individuals, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26.

Further breakdown reveals that of the voting-eligible population, 16,461 were male, constituting 52.3%, and 14,998 were female, making up 47.7%.

The percentage of citizens old enough to vote in Essex County during 2021 was higher than the state average, which stands at 79%.
