Cost of college went up for all students at SUNY College at Plattsburgh

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.7 percent for 2018-19 at SUNY College at Plattsburgh, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $8,369 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $221 more than the $8,148 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 116.9 percent more than residents this year, or $18,149. Their price tag grew 2 percent from $17,798 in 2017-18.

About 91 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New York residents. About 3 percent are residents of other states and 5 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 949 students received grants or scholarships totaling $9.7 million and 760 students took out student loans totaling more than $5.3 million.

Including all undergraduates (5,704), 3,987 students used grants or scholarships totaling $34.6 million, and 3,258 students took out $21.5 million in federal student loans.
