Moriah Elementary School had the highest enrollment among Essex County schools, welcoming 385 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the New York State Education Department.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 99.2% of the Moriah Elementary School's total enrollment.

Among the 16 schools in Essex County, Ticonderoga Elementary School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 360 students, while Ticonderoga Junior-Senior High School welcomed 359 students and came in third in the 2022-23 school year.

Moriah Elementary School is part of Moriah Central School District, which roughly covers four schools within Essex County and has a main office in Saranac Lake.

In the previous school year, Moriah Elementary School also had the highest number of students among Essex County schools.

In 2022, New York had roughly one teacher for every 12 students, which is lower than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students. A lower student-to-teacher ratio has been found to improve students' school performance.
